As heard on The Daily with Cam Want
A brand-new faith-based animated movie is lighting up cinemas! Light of the World tells the story of Jesus through the eyes of a young boy named John, blending historical truth with a fun, adventurous twist.
Director John Schaefer and producer Brennan McPherson joined Cam Want on The Daily to share how they brought this story to life. “We follow John’s journey, meeting Jesus, grappling with doubt, and discovering the ultimate triumph,” John explained. “Every scene is built around how the Gospel changes lives.”
The film has a playful, adventurous tone inspired by Back to the Future and The Goonies, yet it doesn’t shy away from the big moments. From the crucifixion to resurrection, every scene is thoughtfully crafted to be meaningful, family-friendly, and visually stunning.
Why 2D animation? “It’s timeless, full of personality, and lets you see the artist’s hand in every brushstroke,” Brennan shared. Over 400 people worked on the film, many not believers, but they were all captivated by the story and art.
Light of the World is a heartwarming, faith-filled adventure that invites families to see the story of Jesus in a fresh and inspiring way.
